Relations between Serbia and the Switzerland were first established in 1916, when Serbia was a kingdom.[1] From 1918 to 2006, Switzerland maintained relations with the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY), and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY) (later Serbia and Montenegro), of which Serbia is considered shared (SFRY) or sole (FRY) legal successor.[2]

Immigration from Serbia

There are around 59,000 people of Serbian descent living in Switzerland.[3] The Serbs are the ninth largest foreign population in Switzerland.

Economic relations

Trade between two countries amounted to $765 million in 2023; Serbia's merchandise export to Switzerland were about $263 million; Swiss exports were standing at roughly $502 million.[4]

Swiss companies making investments in Serbia include Holcim (cement producing plant in Beočin), Nestle (soups and sauces plant in Šimanovci and Stara Pazova), Barry Callebaut (chocolate producing facotry in Novi Sad), Sika (chemical sealing products plant in Pećinci).
