Three years after the war ended, Sierra Leoneans now want jobs
Donors have pledged some $800m to help Sierra Leone continue rebuilding after a brutal 10-year civil war.

This is $150m less than the Sierra Leone government had requested, said Vice-President Solomon Berewa.

UN envoy in Sierra Leone Jose Victor Angelo told the BBC the pledge was a vote of confidence in the peace process three years after the war ended.

Donors have been increasingly critical of Sierra Leone's efforts to fight corruption in reconstruction efforts.

Earlier this month, the head of Sierra Leone's Anti-Corruption Commission was sacked following allegations of financial mismanagement.

Valentine Collier, however, maintains he is innocent and was being persecuted because he had tried to make a stand against corruption by top officials.

Mr Angelo told the BBC's World Today programme that the money would be closely monitored.

"The money will be spent where we have agreed it should be spent," after the conference in the UK capital, London.
