The Spanish-style ensemble will be auctioned to raise money for the fight against Aids in Africa.

The costume is one of hundreds of pieces of movie memorabilia which have been donated by Hollywood celebrities for the charity auction.

Organised by the Irish actor Liam Neeson, it will be held in New York on March 6.

Meanwhile, the first film featuring newly-wed Zeta Jones and her husband Michael Douglas has proved to be a box office hit - after taking more than £10m in its first weekend in the United States.

The Oscar-tipped movie Traffic is the first major movie for both since their wedding.

Zeta Jones married 56-year-old Douglas in a glitzy private ceremony at the Plaza Hotel in New York on 18 November.

Short-listed for award

The couple have a baby son Dylan - named after the poet Dylan Thomas, who wrote much of his best work when he lived in Swansea.

Since their wedding, the couple have seen their work being given the seal of approval by critics, with nominations for their films at the Golden Globes.

Douglas's films Wonder Boys and Traffic are short-listed for best movie drama, and he has been nominated as best actor.

Zeta Jones is nominated as best supporting actress for her role in Traffic - which she made while pregnant with Dylan.
