Ivorian-born defender Johan Djourou is set to make his debut for Switzerland in Wednesday's friendly against Scotland.
The 19-year-old, who plays for English Premiership side Arsenal, featured for the Swiss side at the last World Youth Championships in Holland.
But Djourou was still eligible to feature for the Ivory Coast until he accepted the offer from Swiss manager Kobi Kuhn to make his senior debut at Glasgow's Hampden Park.
"When Mr Kuhn rang me, I was so excited. I did not expect to play in the first team.
"I want to show my qualities against Scotland as best as possible."
Djourou joined Arsenal from Swiss First Division side Etoile in July 2003.
