Goalkeeper Artur Boruc moves to Fiorentina from Celtic
Boruc set for Fiorentina move
Fiorentina have completed the signing of Artur Boruc from Celtic for an undisclosed fee after the goalkeeper passed a medical.
The Poland international, 30, has penned a two-year contract.
Boruc, who joined Celtic from Legia Warsaw, will start pre-season training in Cortina d'Ampezzo this week.
He will compete with Sebastien Frey for the number one spot with the Viola, although the Frenchman has been linked with a move away from Florence.
Boruc, who was under contract with Celtic until 2011, has been a virtual ever-present at Celtic since joining from Legia Warsaw in 2005 and moves to AC Milan and Arsenal had been touted in the past.
Fellow Pole Lukasz Zaluska has been vying with Boruc for the number one jersey at Celtic since arriving from Dundee United last summer.
But it was American Dominic Cervi who played against Philadelphia Union on Wednesday as Celtic lost their first pre-season friendly 1-0 ahead of matches against Manchester United, Seattle Sounders and Sporting Lisbon.
Boruc made more than 150 appearances for Celtic and has gained 43 caps for Poland.
Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell told the club's official website: "It was clear that, after five years with Celtic, Artur wished to pursue a fresh challenge.
"I know everyone at the club and all our supporters will sincerely wish Artur all the very best in this challenge.
"During his time at Celtic, he has been a magnificent servant to the club and, without any question, he is one of the finest goalkeepers ever to play in Scotland.
"Indeed, he has been one of Europe's top keepers.
"A true character, a passionate man and a real Celtic supporter, he has been part of some memorable occasions and been instrumental in the successes which the club has enjoyed.
