Leeds had to wait until six minutes from time to boost their promotion hopes with a crucial victory against stubborn Bristol Rovers.
Jonathan Howson got on the end of Alan Thompson's cross to score from 12 yards for his first goal of the season.
Rovers lost Joe Jacobson early on with an ankle injury, and Jermaine Beckford was off target twice, also forcing Steve Phillips to make a fine save.
But Howson struck just as Rovers looked poised to hold on for a point.
