KMBC to launch 4 p.m. newscast, expand news on KCWE
Launch date set for April 25
KMBC 9 News will launch a new one-hour 4 p.m. newscast beginning April 25 on KMBC. That same day will feature the expansion of KMBC's half-hour late newscast on KCWE to a full hour.
The launch and expansion of the two newscasts extends KMBC’s weekly commitment to local news, weather and sports coverage to 51 hours.
“KMBC has built a strong reputation as a leader in local news coverage,” said Sarah Smith, KMBC/KCWE President and General Manager. “Our viewers expect convenient access to credible and relevant news and information. The launch of our new 4 p.m. newscast will provide them with another opportunity to receive the important local news content they want and deserve. The expansion of KMBC 9 News at 9 p.m. on KCWE to one hour will allow us to extend the depth of our coverage and deliver more news and weather.”
“Important stories break throughout the day in Kansas City and these additional hours of coverage give us more opportunities to connect local viewers to what’s happening now,” said Sherrie Brown, KMBC 9 News Director. “Viewers count on us to deliver more of what they need and value from journalists they know and trust. Our news expansion efforts are a natural extension of our promise to keep viewers informed around the clock, whether it’s on our air, or streamed on KMBC.com and our mobile apps.
