David Raksin interviewed by Charles Amirkhanian at the Exploratorium's Speaking of Music Series in San Francisco, January 28, 1988.
Composer David Raksin died at 92 in August 2004. As a memorial tribute, Other Minds presents his appearance in front of a live audience at the Speaking of Music series in San Francisco. Raksin is interviewed by Charles Amirkhanian and takes questions from the audience. Perhaps the greatest film music composer of the 20th Century, Raksin discusses his work on Laura, The Bad and the Beautiful and other motion pictures, his studies with Arnold Schoenberg, and his efforts to document and preserve the history of film music. Raksin's rapier wit is everywhere in evidence and makes for a most entertaining evening.
