Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown officially named 2021 NBA All-Star reserves

The Boston Celtics officially have two All-Stars on their team, with news that both first-time All-Star forward Jaylen Brown and second-time All-Star swingman Jayson Tatum have officially been named as reserve members of the 2021 NBA All-Star Game according to the NBA.

For Tatum, it's a dose of validation in a season where the impact of a bout with COVID-19 and team struggles may have taken a bit of the bloom off the rose of his rise to superstardom ever so slightly. For Brown, it is the recognition of his explosive growth into one of the league's top two-way talents. It also entails a hefty bonus per the terms of his recent contract extension.

The Georgia native will earn an additional $1.3 million this season as a result of the nod, a nice cherry on top of his first nomination.

The East starters include Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks), Bradley Beal (Washington Wizards) Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving (Brooklyn Nets), and Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers).

The reserves in addition to Tatum and Brown are James Harden (Nets), Zach LaVine (Chicago Bulls), Julius Randle (New York Knicks), Ben Simmons (76ers) and Nikola Vucevic (Orlando Magic).

The West starters include Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), Luka Doncic (Dallas Mavericks), LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers), Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets) and Kawhi Leonard (Los Angeles Clippers).

The reserves for the Western Conference are Anthony Davis (Lakers), Paul George (Clippers), Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell (Utah Jazz), Damian Lillard (Portland Trail Blazers), Chris Paul (Phoenix Suns) and Zion Williamson (New Orleans Pelicans).

The 2021 All-Star game will take place in Atlanta, Georgia on Mar. 7.
