Deutsche Lufthansa AG of Germany is buying eight more regional jets from Bombardier Aerospace, the Montreal-based company says.

Deutsche Lufthansa AG of Germany is buying eight more regional jets from Bombardier Aerospace, the Montreal-based company said Friday.

Based on the list price for the CRJ900 NextGen aircraft, the contract is valued at approximately $317 million US.

Deutsche Lufthansa and its regional partners have previously ordered a total of 109 aircraft in the CRJ series.

The planes include 62 CRJ100 and CRJ200 aircraft, 20 CRJ700 aircraft and 27 CRJ900 and CRJ900 NextGen aircraft. The carriers also operate several Bombardier Q300 and Q400 turboprops. 

The planes in the latest order will be configured with 86 passenger seats. 

"We are very pleased with the CRJ900 NextGen regional jets currently in Lufthansa Regional's fleet and we have no hesitation in adding more," said Nico Buchholz, senior-vice president, corporate fleet, for Deutsche Lufthansa.

Bombardier shares closed up 15 cents, or 3.1 per cent, at $4.99 on the Toronto Stock Exchange Friday.
