I have the same problem as you. What I ended up doing is putting the songs that I don't like from an Album in a special "BAD" folder in the Album folder, and putting BAD/ in the .ndignore file so that those songs are not in the Navidrome database. Your idea is nice though. |

I think the Heart/Favourite button needs a third state for dislike, similar to what Apple's Music.app does. |

I'd love this too. I am a completist when it comes to albums, but some albums have "joke songs" "skits" "yellow submarine" etc... it'd be easier to just tag a song like in Synfonium where you designate a song as "skippable", so in random mode or other times Navidrome just skips the song. It should only play when playing the song itself. When playing the album in it's entirely maybe a little prompt asking if user wants to play the album but skip the disliked songs |

It seems to me that a modern server, like a player, should have a dislike function. |

Disabled track feature
There are some albums where although I really like about half the songs, I can't stand the other half. Something about deleting the unwanted songs doesn't sit right with me, though. Opening the album and seeing the following makes me grimace:
Suggestion / Feature Request
Instead I'd like to be able to mark the unwanted songs with a tag like ND_Skip=true. That way the album listing would still make sense but there would be two differences:
Here's a mockup where "disabled" songs have their text opacity set to 40%:

Alternatives considered
Gain
I've considered just setting the gain of the songs I don't like to 0. But I can see myself forgetting and wondering why I can't hear anything. The UI still would need to reflect the change.
Playlists
I don't use them because they make no sense to me. I just listen to albums. If I want to mix things up a little I might use a queue, but a playlist reflects my mood at that moment and I found that I never revisit them. I also don't like how that would silo parts of the music collection under another heading. I much prefer seamless browsing. And even if playlists and albums were in the save view, there would be duplication (eg Album A album and Album A playlist).
Ratings
Suggested here: #3439
Another option could be to give low ratings to unwanted songs, but unfortunately all songs are unrated by default. This would require curating the entire library. Edit: although, if 1-star songs were ignored but unrated songs were not, that would work.
