Updating Chart Data Overwrites Custom Styling — Is There a Way to Prevent This? #65

First off—thank you for the great plugin. I'm new to Figma, so this could be user error on my part, but I’ve run into an issue that’s making things super difficult as I prepare a recurring report.

I’ve used the plugin to create some charts and then applied various custom style adjustments to them—things like color changes, added blurs, transparency adjustments, and so on to perfect the style and visual aesthetics. These are purely visual edits, and I’ve made sure they haven’t “broken” or unlinked the chart from the plugin (I can still update the chart when I modify the underlying data, such as adding a new quarter).

The problem is: whenever I click "Update" to change the data, all of the custom styles I applied are reset back to the plugin’s default styles. This means I have to manually reapply all those design adjustments every time I update the data, which is really time-consuming in my case (hours of work).

Is there any way to update the chart’s data without losing the custom styling? My intent is just to add new data points or modify existing ones—not to change the structure of the chart or revert it to the original style.

If there’s a workaround or best practice for how to preserve visual edits while still allowing updates to the underlying data, I’d really appreciate any guidance.

Thanks again, and looking forward to your thoughts!
