Free Vintage Halloween Cards: Pretty Women
Maybe I’m wrong, but I think men were in charge of designing these vintage Halloween cards, because each features a pretty woman! Some of the cards have hand-lettered type treatments, too, and are extraordinary examples of commercial calligraphy. Several also share a theme that seems to have died out over the years. Apparently there was a legend that said if you saw a man’s face in a mirror on Halloween, he was your true love. That belief was a little hard to sustain in the cold light of day, so that probably explains why you never hear it any more.

Hi! I love the clip art shown here!
I have a question, though.
May I make something with the images shown and sell it or would you prefer that I did not sell crafts with these images?
Thank you kindly,
Bing

Hello, I love the images for the holidays; just beautiful. I make cards to send to our troops in Iraq. My grandson is stationed there at Camp Liberty, and he said they really enjoy receiving these. Thank you for having this site.

Thanks so much, Joan — both for your kind words about the site and for what you do for the soldiers.

I just wanted to say i found this site and am making a book for myself about Halloween. It has been the ONLY time I actually found images that were not evil and scary. I wanted my book to be light and the FUN of Halloween. YOU gave this opportunity to do so. I love the Victorian witches . They are delightful.
Thank you.
