Education & Training

At the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital, we're dedicated to shaping the next generation of pediatric leaders. Our comprehensive Graduate Medical Education (GME) and Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) programs are designed to cultivate compassionate, skilled, and inquisitive physicians who are lifelong learners and effective advocates for children's health.

In addition to our Pediatric Residency Program, the Department of Pediatrics offers 14 ACGME-accredited fellowship programs and proudly trains exceptional students from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, as well as visiting medical students, residents, and fellows from institutions across the country and around the world.

The 2025-2026 interview season for our training programs will be conducted virtually.

Pediatric Residency Program

Our pediatric residency provides immersive inpatient and outpatient training, equipping residents to care for some of the most medically complex pediatric patients in the country. Located on the University of Chicago campus, the program offers unique opportunities to engage with disciplines such as medical ethics, health policy, economics, and law. Our graduates go on to careers in primary care, pediatric subspecialties, academic medicine, and child advocacy.
