Camping in Goold Island National Park
This park offers camping within the designated campgrounds at the Spit (Western Beach), Wilderness Cove and Southern Beach. Camping permits are required and fees apply. A tag with your booking number must be displayed at your campsite.
The Spit (Western Beach)
Camping area features: Shady trees overlooking sandy beaches.
Location: On the south-western side of the island, just north-west of Cape Richards, Hinchinbrook Island National Park.
Access: The campground can only be reached by boat. Ferry services are available.
Number of sites: Open area without separately defined sites for a maximum of 50 campers.
Campsites are suitable for: tent camping and large groups.
Campsite surface: Sand, grass.
Facilities: Pit/composting toilets, picnic tables, shelter shed, and gas barbecue (do not rely on the gas barbecue).
Open fires: Prohibited. Take a gas or fuel stove.
Generators: Not permitted.

Bookings: Book online, over-the-counter or by phone. Advance bookings are recommended for holiday periods.

Wilderness Cove
Camping area features: Remote bush camping with beach views and access for visitors with their own boats.
Location: On the south side of the island, just west of Cape Richards, Hinchinbrook Island National Park.
Access: The campground can only be reached by private boat and is not accessible by ferry service.
Number of sites: Open area without separately defined sites, for a maximum of 12 campers.
Campsites are suitable for: tent camping.
Campsite surface: Sand, grass.
Facilities: None.
Open fires: Prohibited. Take a gas or fuel stove.
Generators: Not permitted.

Bookings: Book online, over-the-counter or by phone. Commercial sea kayakers book through the Rainforest and Reef Information Centre in Cardwell.

Southern Beach
Camping area features: Remote bush camping with beach views and access for sea kayakers only.
Location: On the eastern side of the island, just north-west of Cape Richards, Hinchinbrook Island National Park.
Access: The campground can only be reached by sea kayak and is not accessible by private motor boats or ferry service.
Number of sites: Open area without separately defined sites, for a maximum of six campers.
Campsites are suitable for: tent camping.
Campsite surface: Sand, grass.
Facilities: None.
Open fires: Prohibited. Take a gas or fuel stove.
Generators: Not permitted.
