An X-ray diffraction study of the structure of the aqua indium(III) ion in indium sulphate solution
Abstract
X-ray scattering intensities from indium(III) sulphate aqueous solution have been measured and analyzed. A peak at 3.35 Ã in the correlation function reveals inner indium-sulphate complexes of mean formula In(H 2O) 6-z(OSO 3) +3-2z. A large peak at â4.15 Ã suggests a hydrogen-bonded structure outside the inner coordination sphere of In 3+.
