Who are forest-dependent people? A taxo nomy to aid livelihood and land use decision-making in forested regions
Abstract
â¿¿Forest-dependent peopleâ¿¿ (FDP) are the focus of research and development programs. FDP are inconsistently defined by researchers, practitioners, and donors. We characterize FDP in a taxonomy with 18 dimensions, based on a literature review. Our framework and language may help to define FDP more comprehensively. We discuss whether forest dependence is an appropriate trait for policy objectives.
