Summit Entertainment, fresh from announcing its transformation into a full-fledged studio, has unveiled its foreign sales lineup for Cannes, led by Roman Polanski’s “Pompeii.”

Thriller is set against the backdrop of Mount Vesuvius just before and during its eruption in A.D. 79, based on the bestseller of the same name by “Fatherland” novelist Robert Harris, who penned the script. Production will begin in Italy this summer.

Producers are Polanski and Robert Benmussa of RP Prods., along with Alain Sarde. Script’s protag is a young engineer who has to repair an enormous aqueduct whose destruction threatens the Roman Empire.

Summit’s also handling sales of its own productions, “Get Some” and “Step Up 2.” “Get Some,” also produced by Mandalay, centers on the underground fighting scene for teenagers; “Step Up 2” is also produced by Adam Shankman’s Offspring Entertainment.
