To perform a search, simply enter the word or words you wish to search and press Enter or click on Search.
You may use single words, root words (e.g., crim* to find crime, crimes, criminal, and criminals), and AND, OR, or NOT searches.
Examples:
cat and dog will find any document in which BOTH "cat" and "dog" appear.
cat or dog will find any document in which EITHER "cat" or "dog" appears.
cat not dog will find any document in which "cat" appears but not if "dog" also appears.
"guide dog" will find any document in which "guide dog" appears as a phrase.
"WAC 1\-04\-010" will find any document containing WAC 1-04-010.

The system returns a list of the documents that met your search criteria. The list does not appear in numerical order; rather, it is "ranked." That is to say, the documents are ranked according to how closely they match your criteria. The system looks for how often the word occurs in the document, how close the words are to each other, and whether the words occur within key phrases (such as "In conclusion").

Placing a hyphen (-) between words will find variations of the two words. For example, searching for fire-fighter will find documents with references to fire-fighter, fire fighter, and firefighter. If you would like to search for a hyphen only, place a backward slash (\) before the hyphen.

To search for a WAC reference place a backward slash before each hyphen. For example, searching for 16\-229\-060 returns WAC 16-229-060 and any documents referencing this WAC. Searching for 16\-229* returns all WACs in Title 16, Chapter 229 and any documents containing this title and chapter.
