From his well-known
poem, I See His Blood upon the Rose
to his
beautiful sonnets, the poems of Joseph Mary Plunkett (1887-1916),
are filled with passion, imagery and romance. He was a
scholar, one of the signers of the Proclamation of the
Irish Republic, and executed for his part in the 1916
Rising. He was a brilliant man who had only enough time
in his 28 years to show us his potential.
