About David

David Tredinnick has been MP for Bosworth since 1987.

During his time in Parliament he has led campaigns against Post Office closures, for more local police, better road safety and against unnecessary travellers' sites. David has also been vocal in law and order issues, especially antisocial behaviour concerns. He has also supported many local charities and businesses.

David's main area of interest is health and he has been Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Integrated Healthcare (previously Integrated and Complementary Healthcare) since 2002 (formerly Treasurer 1989-2002). His other special interests include defence, environment, home affairs, and information technology.

David was born in 1950, and educated at Eton College, Mons Officer Cadet School, St John's College, Oxford (M.Litt), and the Graduate School of Business at Cape Town University (MBA). He has one daughter and one son.

Parliamentary Group for Integrated Healthcare

David Tredinnick has been Chairman of the All-Party Group for Integrated Healthcare (PGIH) since 2002 (formerly Treasurer). The PGIH is an All-Party Parliamentary Group based at Westminster that works to bring together the best of orthodox and complementary healthcare for the benefit of patients. The Group holds meetings on a wide variety of subjects and has been one of the best supported Groups in past Parliaments, with some open meetings attracting over 100 people.

David and the PGIH have led many successful campaigns on subjects ranging from the EU Food Supplements Directive to the regulation of practitioners of herbal medicine, acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. As Chair of the PGIH David supports wider patient choice within the NHS.

Commons' Committees

David Tredinnick is an elected Member of the Commons Health Committee and Commons Science and Technology Committee, which are Committees appointed by the House of Commons to examine and scrutinise the Government for Health and Science policy respectively.

These Committees choose their own subjects of inquiry, which may simply consist of a single day's oral evidence or last for several months and give rise to a report to the House.
