Troubled Rovers' chairman Maguire resigns
Thursday, 5 May 2005 21:56The off-field difficulties at Shamrock Rovers continued today as Chairman Tony Maguire resigned.
The FAI's Club licensing committee met earlier this week to discuss the Rovers situation following differences between the club's accounts submitted to the FAI last December and to the High Court during the recent petition to enter examinership.
The outcome of the committee's deliberations could come as early as tomorrow and there is the potential for Rovers to be docked points, something which would leave them in deep relegation trouble.
Rovers have debts of over ¤2.36million and have had trouble in paying their players wages in recent times.
