The Ireland U18 Club side will participating in the FIRA/AER U18 European Championships in Treviso this year.
Ireland are in group A alongside France, England, Italy, Romania, Georgia, Russia and Spain.
Ireland reached the final of last year's tournament and were only beaten on a penalty shoot out by the host country France.
These Championships involve 32 European Nations divided into 4 divisions. Ireland are seeded second in the first division by virtue of their outstanding performance in 2007 when they were undefeated but finished as runners up to host nation France after losing a soccer style penalty shoot out 4-3!
In this year’s tournament, which will be based in Treviso (Italy) the team face seventh seeds Russiain their opening match. This match will be played on Sunday 16 March in Casale Sul Sile kick off is at 4.00p.m.
The winners will meet the winners of the England v Georgia match on Wednesday 19 March and depending on the outcome of that game are likely to face either host nation, Italy or last year’s champions, France in the play off finals on Saturday 22 March in Bennetton Treviso’s stadium.
