RS Thomas

R S Thomas
1913 - 2000

RS Thomas was vicar of Aberdaron
from 1967 to 1978.

RS Outside Aberdaron New Church

Priest and poet, RS enjoyed a reputation for being outspoken both in and out of the pulpit. Many visitors come to Aberdaron each year, to see for themselves the landscape and people who influenced his writing so deeply. There is an exhibition, to commemorate his time as Vicar, in the Church at Aberdaron. When he retired he lived, for some years in Rhiw and continued to be seen regularly taking his walk around Mynydd Penarfynydd. In St Hywyn's Church you can see a large slate with his poem 'The Other' reproduced upon it.

RS Thomas: Priest and Poet by Rev E Davies MBE, Vicar of Aberdaron from 2000 - 2007.

A wide selection of his books are on sale in the Church Shop, as well as tapes of RS reading his poems.
