Former Anne Arundel Community College student Ronald Damien Malfi will read from and sign copies of his recently published works, "The Nature of Monsters" and "Via Dolorosa," at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, in Truxal Library Room 302 on the Arnold campus.
In 1997, Malfi won a short story contest conducted by the college literary magazine Amaranth for "Blue," his first published work. At the time he was enrolled in an AACC creative writing class. Since then, he has published four novels, "The Space Between," "The Fall of Never," "The Nature of Monsters" and "Via Dolorosa." Malfi's short fiction has appeared in print and online magazines and anthologies. He expects to publish "Passenger" next year.
Malfi was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., but moved near the Chesapeake Bay at an early age. In 1997, the Transylvania Society of Dracula named him best new author. He graduated from Towson University with a degree in English in 1999 and now lives in Arnold. His writing focus has changed from horror to more mainstream literature. His recent fiction works target characters who struggle with inner turmoil and their relationships with others.
The Arnold campus is at 101 College Parkway. For information, call Susan Rosen, 410-777-2545. To request special accommodations, call Disability Support Services, 410-777-2306 or Maryland Relay 711, 72 hours in advance.
