Content Organization

Medscape from WebMD is organized by medical specialty, with each supported specialty having its own customized Web site. Specialty content is evaluated, created, and presented under the guidance of a WebMD program director and a medical professional advisory board.

Most of the specialty Web sites are organized consistently so you'll know where to find your favorite features as you move from specialty to specialty. Each homepage, for example, typically contains the following sections, with feature articles selected for that specialty:

  • In Focus: the top articles of the week (generally updated twice week);
  • Today's News: the top news stories of the day (updated daily);
  • Resource Centers: sections on specific conditions or topics of interest;
  • Expert Corner: Ask the Experts based on topics of concern according to specialty;
  • Conference Center: reports and highlights from key medical meetings;
  • Discussions: a forum for discussions with your peers; and
  • Library: Journals, textbooks, and reference tools.

Mission Statement

  • To provide clinicians and other healthcare professionals with the most timely comprehensive and relevant clinical information to improve patient care;
  • To make the clinician's task of information gathering simpler, more fruitful, and less time-consuming; and
  • To provide physicians with the educational tools needed to stay current in their practice.
