Accessing mobile.twitter.com from a Feature Phone

How do I access mobile.twitter.com if I don't have a smartphone?

Twitter's mobile website will look different if you are using a feature phone. We've detailed the differences below. If you are accessing mobile.twitter.com with a smartphone, please see this tutorial.

Home Timeline and navigation

When you log in to your account on mobile.twitter.com, you will see your Home timeline and a navigation menu at the top of the screen (pictured below).

  • Select the Home icon to navigate directly to your Home Timeline.
  • The @ icon will bring you to a page where you can view your Mentions and @replies.
  • The # icon will take you to a list of current Trending Topics on Twitter.
  • Selecting the person icon will take you to your profile, where you can also access your Favorites and Direct Messages.
  • The blue Tweet composer icon allows you to draft and send Tweets.

Posting a Tweet, replying to a Tweet, retweeting and marking a Tweet as a favorite

To post a Tweet:

  1. Tap on the compose Tweet icon (looks like a feather quill) on the top right of the scree. This will bring up the Tweet composer (pictured below).
  2. Enter your 140-character message and then tap Tweet
  3. The message will be posted to your Twitter profile and in the Home Timeline of your followers.

 

To reply, retweet, or mark a Tweet as a Favorite:

  1. Locate the Tweet you'd like to take action on in your Home timeline.
  2. In the bottom right corner of the Tweet you'll see the option to reply, retweet, or mark a Tweet as a favorite (pictured below).

Following, unfollowing, and blocking users 

To follow and/or unfollow a user:

  1. Select any Tweet from that user by tapping View details.
  2. Tap the follow button to the right of the user's profile picture (pictured below).
  3. You can also follow a user by going to their profile page and selecting Follow (also pictured below).
  4. To unfollow, simply follow the steps above and select Unfollow.

    To block a user:

    1. Go to the profile of the user you wish to block.
    2. Select the Block option (shown below).

       

      Direct Messages

      To send a Direct Message:

      1. Select the person icon from the top navigation menu.
      2. Select Direct messages.
      3. You will see a message composer and your DM inbox directly below that.
      4. Type in the user you'd like to send a message to and compose your 140-character private message.
      5. Select Send to send the message to the user.
      6. If you know the specific user you'd like to message, you can also go directly to the profile of that user and tap Send msg.

      To reply to a Direct Message:

      1. Locate a Direct Message from the user you'd like to reply to in your DM inbox.
      2. Select View messages.
      3. Compose your reply in the reply box.
      4. Tap Send.

      To delete a Direct Message:

      1. Locate the Direct Message you'd like to delete.
      2. Tap Delete at the bottom of the message.

      Account Settings

      To access your account settings:

      1. Go to the bottom of any page and tap on the Settings option.
      2. From here, you can access and edit your name, username, email address, password, and privacy settings.

      To access and edit your other settings, such as location, bio, etc. you will need to log in to twitter.com via a computer and click Settings.
