Account management

TweetDeck gives the Twitter experience more flexibility and allows more advanced users to gain valuable insight to what’s happening at this very moment on Twitter. Newly designed and rebuilt with a completely web-based framework, you can now access TweetDeck in several ways:

  • On the web - You can sign up and log into TweetDeck at http://web.tweetdeck.com. Safari, Chrome, and Firefox are supported. Support for IE will be added soon!
  • As a Chrome app - You can go to the Chrome Web Store and install the TweetDeck app. The look and feel of the Chrome app matches the web version exactly.
  • On your PC or Mac - If you prefer to use a native application on your Windows 7 or OS X machine, you can download TweetDeck apps for these platforms. Download the Windows version from the TweetDeck site; The Mac version can be downloaded from the Apple App Store.

Your TweetDeck account

  • A TweetDeck account is different; it allows you to manage multiple accounts and synchronize your configuration when you use TweetDeck from different computers.
  • Since it is not a Twitter account, you can’t Tweet with it, and you can’t sign in to TweetDeck with your Twitter credentials.

How to sign up for a TweetDeck account:

    1. Go to http://web.tweetdeck.com.
    2. Provide an email address and password and you’re ready to go! (Note: You must create a new account with TweetDeck. You cannot create an account with your current Twitter login credentials.)
    3. Once you’re signed in, you can add multiple Twitter--and Facebook--accounts to your TweetDeck account.

      Features

      Columns

Instead of a single timeline, TweetDeck allows you to create columns of specific content that interests you most (pictured below). You can create a column that shows all your mentions, the results of a search query, a list of Favorites, the latest Tweets from a hashtag or Trend... the possibilities are nearly endless!

      To add a column:

      1.  Click Add Column in the top navigation bar, which will open a menu that allows selection of several column types.
      2. Once you’ve created a column, you can click Back to add another column or click the [x] in the top right corner to close the menu.

To turn column notifications sounds on or off:

      1. Hover your mouse over the header of the column you wish to turn sound notifications on or off for.
      2. Click the settings icon that appears in the top right corner of the header. A menu will appear.
      3. Check the box next to Notification sounds to turn notification sounds on. Uncheck the box to turn them off.
      4. Once your settings are in place, click the settings icon again to close out the menu.

        Filtering

If you find you have lots of unwanted updates about a topic filling up your columns, you can use the global filter to remove any content you're just not that interested in. You can use this to filter out specific twitter accounts, services, or even hashtags like #sxsw.

        To create a global filter:

        1. Click the settings icon (looks like a gear cog) in the far right corner of the top navigation bar and select Settings.
        2. Select Global Filter.
        3. Choose your filter settings and select Add filter to finish.

        Scheduling Tweets and direct messages

Need to send a Tweet later? Use TweetDeck's scheduling feature to post an update for some time in the future. The scheduling option is visible when you create a new Tweet.

        To schedule a new Tweet:

        1. Click the compose Tweet icon (looks like a feather quill) in the top navigation bar.
        2. Type in your desired message and click the time settings icon at the bottom of the pop-up composer to select a date and time (pictured below).
        3. When you're ready to send, click Tweet.

Once you’ve given a date and time for your message, a new column will appear showing your Scheduled Tweets. This column will also allow you to edit or delete your Tweets before they’re sent. You can also attach a photo to your Tweet by clicking the camera icon. To send a direct message, click the message icon (looks like an envelope).

        Account management

Manage all your Twitter accounts from TweetDeck without switching between them. View all of the information you need from all of your accounts at once and cross-post Tweets to different accounts at the touch of a button. TweetDeck allows you to post to Facebook accounts as well.
