Chelsea 1-1 Bayern Munich (AET): It's a good, old-fashioned England v Germany clash in the 2012 Champions League final. Nervous fans integrate together ahead of kick-off
With no rain expected, the pitch should be in perfect condition for the dribbling skills of players such as Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery and Juan Mata
Supporters arrive at the Allianz Arena in anticipation of the match. Both clubs have lost on their last final appearance; Chelsea in 2008 against Manchester United and Bayern Munich against Inter Milan in 2010
Two of Chelsea's suspended players, captain John Terry and midfielder Raul Meireles take in the atmosphere inside the stadium
The trophy is the star attaraction ahead of the match with the arena slowly filling up. Either Bayern full-back Philipp Lahm or Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard will be the lucky one to get their hands on the trophy upon the final whistle
The pre-match ceremonies take place, with the spine-tingling Champions League anthem, before Pedro Proenca from Portugal blows his whistle to start the match
The first real chance falls to former Chelsea winger Arjen Robben (left), who wriggles his way into the box before poking a shot on goal, which goalkeeper Petr Cech manages to save in unorthodox fashion
Didier Drogba is playing as a lone-striker up front for the Blues, and is looking isolated without the support of his team-mates
Mario Gomez, Bayern Munich's top scorer this season with 48 goals in all competitions, has missed opportunities when presented with them. The teams go into the dressing rooms all square at half-time
The Allianz Arena erupts as the ball breaks to Franck Ribery in the box, who puts it into the back on an empty net, but the joy is short-lived as the players look up to see the assistant referee's flag held up, and the goal is disallowed
Bayern get the breakthrough! Toni Kroos whips in a ball from the left and Thomas Mueller stoops at the far post to plant home a header via the crossbar.
Bayern manager Jupp Heynckes sends on Daniel van Buyten to shore up the defence, but Drogba rises highest from a Juan Mata corner to head in the equaliser with just two minutes remaining, sending the game into extra-time
Drogba brings down Ribery in the box and the Portuguese referee points to the spot. Penalty!
Robben steps up to take the penalty for Bayern...
...but it is saved!! Petr Cech, who kept out Cristiano Ronaldo's spot-kick in the 2008 final shoot-out, guesses correctly and stops Robben's penalty
It is 3-3 in the shoot-out when Bastian Schweinsteiger steps up, and the German international misses having hit the post
It is left to Drogba to take the final penalty of the shoot-out, and he sends Neuer the wrong way to give Chelsea a 4-3 win on penalties
After suffering defeat by Manchester United in 2008, Chelsea come back into the final four years later to triumph in a shoot-out. Owner Roman Abramovich gets the trophy that he has always wanted
