That's all for another night in the Champions League then. Goals, goals, goals - and a potentially crucial away goal for Chelsea in the middle of them.

Tunde Akere: MCFC, AFC and United losing doesn't mean this draw is not good for Chelsea. I am confident they will finish the job at the Bridge.
Guv: The whole "PL is best" sarcasm is more than a little tedious. Nobody claims best individual team, it's the best entertainment.
Connor: I am not sure whether watching Dortmund or Madrid is more exciting, they both play brilliant attacking football!

Chris, Brighton: Real have achieved what is known in German as a Kantersieg.
Baz, Haydock: What's German for hammered? Try Glockenspieled.
Steve Huish, Surbiton: Good result for Chelsea considering the rest of the English teams. The difference between Moyes and Mourinho - experience!
-
22:21:Manager reaction- Schalke 1-6 Real Madrid
Schalke boss Jens Keller: "We knew that Real would use the space we would give them after they scored the opener and they simply punished us for every mistake we made. We are a young team that still has lots to learn at this level.
"We made too many simple mistakes. We had a good start, played bravely until we conceded the opener. A mistake allowed Real to score the opener but we immediately had the chance for the equaliser.
"These types of chances don't come along that often against a side like Real. When you make that many mistakes against Real they will punish you without a second thought."

Mahesh: Technically Chelsea are already winning the tie on away goals. The criticism is uncalled for.
Cameron Leask: A bit of Coldplay seems apt for the PL teams in the CL: 'Nobody said it was easy/No one ever said it would be this hard'.
Formby Fan: Formby 7-3 Leek in the North West Counties League tonight. The Schalke - Madrid game sounded dull.

22:12:Clinical Cristiano- Schalke 1-6 Real Madrid
You don't score as many goals as Cristiano Ronaldo without seeing plenty of the ball in the final third. He had 10 shots tonight - the same as Schalke's team combined.
-
22:08:Manager reaction- Galatasaray 1-1 Chelsea
Galatasaray boss Roberto Mancini on Sky:
"In the end it could be a good result, we should play like we did in the second half. We were too deep in the first half.
"In every attack we lost four players during the first 20 minutes, they were counter-attacking us every time, and that's impossible against Chelsea. I brought off Izet Hajrovic, he didn't have a bad game, but we needed another midfielder. 1-1 is a good result and we have a chance."

Cristiano Ronaldo is a machine. A goalscoring machine.

22:03:
Just the one reference to 'killing the game' then [see 21:04].
Jose Mourinho loves it.
-
22:01:Manager reaction- Galatasaray 1-1 Chelsea
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho on Sky Sports:
"This is Turkish football, it's very emotional, Galatasaray are a big club with big players and it was not easy. The first half we had chances to kill game, I am not criticising our strikers but they had chances to do the second goal, and that would have changed the game.
"In the second half they put pressure on us, they had attacking full-backs and powerful strikers, and they put pressure on us. Fernando Torres and Andre Schurrle were in trouble in the second half, they were a bit exhausted. But we were comfortable, until we conceded at the corner.
"I can't complain, we had problems with Mikel and Oscar, and the players we could not pick for the Champions League, but the performance of the players in a difficult place to play was amazing. I just ask for 10% of what this stadium gave Galatasaray when we play in three weeks.
"It's better to be 1-1 than 0-0, this result is better than the 0-0 we had in the first minute, it's not a bad result but they are an experienced team with good strikers and we will have work to do."
-
22:01:
I love that line. Yes Julian, to be honest that was noticeable....
-
22:01:Player reaction- Schalke 1-6 Real Madrid
Schalke playmaker Julian Draxler: "The difference in quality was clearly noticeable.
"We have to thank our fans for the great support they gave us throughout. We made several mistakes and Real punished them clinically. Obviously I should've scored from my opportunity."
-

21:52:Player reaction- Galatasaray 1-1 Chelsea
Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard speaking to Sky Sports:
"Its half time, but I would not say it a great result, they are a strong team so we are a bit disappointed. When it's 1-0 with the atmosphere you know they will be in the game. It's one of the atmospheres you play football for, so credit to their fans. We sat back a little bit bit and did a few things that were disappointing, so we know we have work to do at home."
On Didier Drogba:
"He is a great lad, it was an honour to play against him, and to play with him for years. We'll have to watch him back at the Bridge."
-
21:48:FULL-TIME- Galatasaray 1-1 Chelsea
A game of two halves for Chelsea then. They looked slick in the first period but after the break they were pretty sluggish and a draw was about right.

21:47:Rocket Ronaldo- Schalke 1-6 Real Madrid
Cristiano Ronaldo bagged two more goals tonight, and his form over the past few years is well worth flagging up.
He now has 61 goals in the Champions League, the third player to score 60+ goals in the Champions League behind Raul (71) and Lionel Messi (66).
Since the start of 2012-13, Ronaldo (15) has scored more Champions League away goals than Barcelona (13).
And Ronaldo has scored 31 goals in his last 25 Champions League games. To summarise - he's decent.
-
John Hartson, ex-Celtic striker in Istanbul, BBC Radio 5 liveGalatasaray 1-1 Chelsea
"Galatasaray will be slightly disappointed, but 1-1 is about fair. Chelsea probably edged the game but overall it's a fair result. I can see Chelsea going through when they get back to Stamford Bridge."

Daniel, Yorkshire: Bayern were the best team last year by a country mile and they're even better this year. Real's Spanish train will abruptly halt when the German engine comes to town.
-
21:33:GOAL- Schalke 1-6 Real Madrid - Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (90 mins)
What's German for absolute screamer?
What a goal! It means precisely zero in the context of the tie but former Real man Klaas-Jan Huntelaar can at least tell his grandkids about this one. meeting a cross from the left with a 20-yard volley which thrashes in off the underside of the crossbar.
Score a goal like that and you'd normally have dancing in the streets. Pity it came at 6-0 down.
-
21:31:GOAL- Schalke 0-6 Real Madrid - Cristiano Ronaldo (89 mins)
What's German for hammered?
An almost unnecessarily cruel sixth for Real Madrid as Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka is robbed of the ball by Isco, Karim Benzema sends Cristiano Ronaldo in on goal and he rounds the keeper to score.
-
21:31:FINAL FIVE
Into the last few minutes in both games. Chelsea look happy with a 1-1 draw and an away goal.
-
21:28:GREAT SAVE!- Schalke 0-5 Real Madrid
Let's not be too critical of Real Madrid as they close out a 5-0 away win - but it could have been more. Karim Benzema should make it six from Marcelo's pass but he hits it at Ralf Fahrmann when clean in on goal.
Ah, he was offside as it goes. As you were.
-
21:25:Galatasaray 1-1 Chelsea
The Turk Telecom arena goes eerily quiet as we tick into the last 10 minutes. Pressure?
-
John Hartson, ex-Celtic striker in Istanbul, BBC Radio 5 liveGalatasaray 1-1 Chelsea
"I think Chelsea had enough opportunities, and enough of the ball to get a second goal, but with Galatasaray pressing in the last 10 minutes like they have you would say Chelsea would be happy to go home with a 1-1."
-

21:18:GREAT SAVE!- Galatasaray 1-1 Chelsea
But Chelsea may not get out of town with a draw yet! Emmanuel Eboue's cross is very dangerous, John Terry just about heads it out but Alex Telles is on hand to fire in from 20 yards, forcing Petr Cech into action. A good save from Cech that - we have 15 minutes left...
-
21:15:Galatasaray 1-1 Chelsea
Chelsea have only had 35% of possession in this second half but they now keep the ball for an extended period, and the jeers raining down are deafening. A wall of sound Phil Spector would be proud of.
Difficult to guess what Chelsea will make of a 1-1 draw here. They could have buried the game before half-time but have barely seen the ball since the break.

21:11:GOAL- Schalke 0-5 Real Madrid - Gareth Bale (69 mins)
Make it stop, someone make it stop! Real Madrid dial up the pain on an already hurting Schalke side as Sergio Ramos carries the ball out of defence before bisecting the wearied back line to free Gareth Bale. He has one touch, and he only needs one, drifting a left-footed clip into the far corner.
Surgical. You'd have to make Real favourites to progress now.

BBC World Service Sport's Steve Crossman: "Not to kick them while they're down but as it stands Schalke will break a record for the second time this season tonight.
"This is set to become their heaviest home defeat ever in the Champions League, Chelsea's 3-0 win in Gelsenkirchen during the group stage set a new bar but they're managing to outdo themselves once again."
-
John Hartson, ex-Celtic striker in Istanbul, BBC Radio 5 liveGalatasaray 1-1 Chelsea
"Poor defending, it was an inswinger that beat everybody. Selcuk Inan was right in the middle of the six-yard box, and totally unmarked. You would say that he was John Terry's man and it was Terry's fault, and he's been outstanding all night up until now."
-
21:09:SUBSTITUTION- Galatasaray 1-1 Chelsea
Fernando Torres gets in the area right away but pulls a shot wide when he could have squared it to Andre Schurrle.
Schurrle is then hooked for John Mikel Obi.
-
21:07:GOAL- Galatasaray 1-1 Chelsea - Aurelien Chedjou (64 mins)
There we go! It's been coming, as Galatasaray get the equaliser. And it's a goal Jose Mourinho will hate, Wesley Sneijder's corner is missed by John Terry to leave Aurelien Chedjou with a tap-in.
-
21:06:HITS THE WOODWORK- Galatasaray 0-1 Chelsea
Oh what a miss! Galatasaray should be level, Didier Drogba heads a free-kick down to the far post and captain Selcuk Inan has an open goal three yards out, but he hits the outside of the post!
A sitter. That's the first time Drogba had touched the ball in the Chelsea area.

Jack, Leamington Spa: Anyone else remember when criticism of Ronaldo was that he was all step-overs and no end product ? Incredible talent ! Would love to see another Ibra vs Ronnie this season.
-
20:59:GOAL- Schalke 0-4 Real Madrid - Karim Benzema (57 mins)
Another brilliant goal. You just have to feel sorry for the Schalke defence, this is a total mismatch.
Karim Benzema plays a one-two with Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldo teeing the Frenchman up with a backheel into his path and even though Benzema's first touch is not great, he steers home from an angle.
There's half an hour left yet.
-
John Hartson, ex-Celtic striker in Istanbul, BBC Radio 5 liveGalatasaray 0-1 Chelsea
"Torres was one on one with the Galatasaray keeper, but he opted to take an extra touch and it was a good save from Muslera. Torres will rue that chance to make it 2-0, when they get the chances they need to take them for sure."
-
20:58:CLOSE!- Schalke 0-3 Real Madrid
Schalke could be facing a very heavy defeat indeed tonight. Like the Nolans, or Glenn Miller, Real Madrid are in the mood.
Angel Di Maria is the latest to serve up a chance to the far post and Karim Benzema blasts narrowly over. A tight angle, but nearly a fourth goal.
-
20:57:CLOSE!- Galatasaray 0-1 Chelsea
Big, big chance for Fernando Torres to double his tally for the night and take Chelsea a huge stride closer to the last eight.
The striker collects a low precise pass from Eden Hazard that gives him a clear run at goal. Two Gala defenders chase him down and put him under pressure but he still gets his shot off from 14 yards. Fernando Muslera makes a decent save but Torres really ought to have scored.
-
20:54:GOAL- Schalke 0-3 Real Madrid - Cristiano Ronaldo (52 mins)
Ridiculous. Poor Joel Matip has been turned into a pretzel by the genius of Cristiano Ronaldo, who continues to score at Wayne Gretzky levels.
Gareth Bale sweeps an early pass out to Ronaldo on the left-hand corner of the penalty area, Ronaldo throws three quick stepovers to leave Matip inside out before the Real Madrid number seven crashes in with his left foot.
-
John Hartson, ex-Celtic striker in Istanbul, BBC Radio 5 liveGalatasaray 0-1 Chelsea
"I think Didier Drogba has not had the support, Wesley Sneijder has been too far away from him, but Cahill and Terry have done a fantastic job. If one has challenged Drogba, the other picks up the pieces behind."
-
20:52:Galatasaray 0-1 Chelsea
Decent start to the second period from Galatasaray as they force two corners, but Chelsea defend manfully. For all of Chelsea's good play, it would be dangerous to sit back too much while it's only 1-0.
-
20:50:Schalke 0-2 Real Madrid
Cristiano Ronaldo may not have scored - yet - but he is just an amazing footballer. He picks the ball up near the dugouts and has the audacity to consider that a chance, turning and beating three defenders with a mix of outright pace and strength and quick feet, leaving two of them on the deck before clipping a cross into the six-yard box.
Is there anywhere he doesn't think he can score from?

20:35:Who's marking 11? Who's got him?!- Schalke 0-2 Real Madrid
Does anyone else feel a strange, entirely unjustified, sense of pride seeing Gareth Bale doing the business for Real Madrid?
He's been everywhere tonight so far, linking up with Cristiano Ronaldo superbly. A massive goal threat.
-
John Hartson, ex-Celtic striker in Istanbul, BBC Radio 5 liveGalatasaray 0-1 Chelsea
"Chelsea have broken away so many times, but they've been disappointing when they have been three versus two a few times. It should be a good second half, with Galatasaray being the home side they will have to come out and take a risk.
"Galatasaray have been a bit disappointing, they have not pushed on as much as I would have expected, but they will have to come out and attack in the second half."

20:26:DISALLOWED GOAL- Galatasaray 0-1 Chelsea
What's gone on here then? Galatasaray have the ball in the net as Burak Yilmaz thumps home off the post but the whistle had already gone.
John Terry conceded a throw-in, but kept hold of the ball as he retreated back to the penalty area which meant that we had two balls on the pitch when the home side took the throw quickly.
Terry is booked for the cheek, but Galatasaray are furious, Bizarre.
-

"Roberto Mancini's in the technical zone, waving his hands around as if to say, 'come on, let's lift the tempo'. If they get a goal, the atmosphere in this ground will change completely."
-
20:24:SAVE!- Galatasaray 0-1 Chelsea
A better spell for the hosts as we tick toward half-time, Alex Telles drives in a dipping shot from 25 yards and Petr Cech has to get down to his left to turn it clear of the far corner.
From the corner, Chelsea have a three-on-two counter but Eden Hazard takes the wrong decision and runs into trouble.
-
20:22:GREAT SAVE!- Schalke 0-2 Real Madrid
Nearly, nearly. Angel Di Maria frees Cristiano Ronaldo into teh penalty area, left-footed, but Ralf Fahrmann just about turns it over the top with his ankle.
Schalke are just unable to cope with Madrid's galactic front four.
-
20:20:Galatasaray 0-1 Chelsea
Interestingly - or not - Galatasaray have had 59.6% of the ball, but Chelsea have looked extremely dangerous when they get it. Possession is not everything.
-
John Hartson, ex-Celtic striker in Istanbul, BBC Radio 5 liveGalatasaray 0-1 Chelsea
"Mancini's put the sub on to stock up the midfield, maybe he thought Chelsea were getting too much of the play and maybe Galatasaray are going man-for-man now. They felt they were getting slightly overrun."
-
20:19:SUBSTITUTION- Galatasaray 0-1 Chelsea
Galatasaray have been left woefully exposed at the back in the opening half-hour, prompting Roberto Mancini to make an early change. Winger Izet Hajrovic is the man to be hooked as Mancini sends on Yekta Kurtulus to shore up his central midfield. The Turkish champions have switched to a 4-5-1 formation now.
-
20:18:HITS THE WOODWORK- Schalke 0-2 Real Madrid
Real have scored twice and Cristiano Ronaldo hasn't bagged either of them. It's an unusual scenario and one the Portuguese flier comes close to rectifying, beating a defender with a surge of pace and a stepover or two before thumping a shot against the post.
So nearly a third. This could get ugly for Schalke.

Ramires was able to carry on after some treatment, sporting a bandage across the nose, but now Fernando Torres is nursing a sore head after being caught in a Galatasaray sandwich.

20:06:GOAL- Schalke 0-2 Real Madrid - Gareth Bale (21 mins)
This boy may go far. What a superb goal from Gareth Bale, who beats Felipe Santana with a body swerve, drives through a gap between two more defenders to burst into the area and then slams a left-footed shot home off the inside of the post.
Wales have a truly world-class operator.
-
20:05:Galatasaray 0-1 Chelsea
Frank Lampard lines up a free-kick 35 yards out, it's highly ambitious but he goes for goal, slicing across the ball but only finding the stand behind the goal.
Ramires then gets a crack in the cheek from the re-start and may need some treatment.

William in Kent: Cesar 'Dave' Azpilicueta is easily the best full-back in England at the moment. And he's not even playing in his best position!!
Andrew: Willian has really developed into a go-to player for Mourinho and Chelsea over the course of the season. He's stepped up to the plate when Oscar has looked tired and disinterested of late. Effective squad management from Jose Mourinho yet again.
-
20:03:Galatasaray 0-1 Chelsea
Both games tonight are open as we tick past the quarter-hour mark. A quick free-kick down the left gives Galatasaray a slight opening, but Izet Hajrovic gets his technique wrong and fires way over the bar.
We wanted goals, and we could be in for a few.
-
20:00:GREAT SAVE!- Schalke 0-1 Real Madrid
Schalke had started pretty well before that sucker punch from Real, and the Germans almost level instantly. Max Meyer crosses from the right and Julian Draxler should bury it, but Iker Casillas springs cat-like to his right to turn his shot away. What a superb save - but the forward should be smashing those home.

19:58:GOAL- Schalke 0-1 Real Madrid - Karim Benzema (13 mins)
After a tame start from Real, their big three attackers combine to devastating effect. Gareth Bale starts it, beating two men on the right before finding Cristiano Ronaldo on the edge of the box.
Ronaldo's backheel is intended for Bale, but Felipe Santana gets a touch on it and it runs into the path of Karim Benzema, who buries it.
-
John Hartson, ex-Celtic striker in Istanbul, BBC Radio 5 liveGalatasaray 0-1 Chelsea
"Cesar Azpilicueta did so well, he won the ball outside his own box, ran 60-70 yards, then used his vision to pick Fernando Torres out. It's the perfect start when coming to a place like this, it's quietened the place down."
-
19:56:Galatasaray 0-1 Chelsea
The crowd aren't quiet for long, as Wesley Sneijder clips a neat pass through to Didier Drogba - but the flag is raised as the big man takes it into the area.
Chelsea are well set up to defend a lead and counter at will now. This could be very tough for Roberto Mancini's men.
-
19:53:GOAL- Galatasaray 0-1 Chelsea - Fernando Torres (9 mins)
Ah, so that's how you silence this raucous crowd! Chelsea lead after a mistake from Emmanuel Eboue. Andre Schurrle frees the overlapping Cezar Azpilicueta down the left, Fernando Muslera comes out and when the full-back cuts it back, Fernando Torres slams into the vacant net.
What a start for Jose Mourinho's men. The first goal the Premier League have managed in six European ties...
-
19:52:Galatasaray 0-0 Chelsea
The hosts look vulnerable in defence. Very vulnerable. Frank Lampard whips in a free-kick, the Gala defence step out to try and play offside but get it wrong and John Terry almost turns the ball in as it's hooked back over.
-
John Hartson, ex-Celtic striker in Istanbul, BBC Radio 5 liveGalatasaray 0-0 Chelsea
"We thought Andre Schurrle would push on towards Fernando Torres, but Willian has a responsibility to do that as well, they all have to try to support Torres. Ramires also has a responsibility to help Torres as much as he can."
-
19:49:GREAT SAVE!- Galatasaray 0-0 Chelsea
Almost a total howler from Galatasaray goalkeeper Fernando Muslera! He comes racing out of his goal to sweep up in a Bruce Grobbelaar style, but he only hacks the ball to Willian 30 yards out.
Willian tries the chip but Muslera, out of his area, reacts well to head the ball over the top. Unorthodox as you like, but he kept it out!
-
19:48:CLOSE!- Schalke 0-0 Real Madrid
Decent chance for the hosts, and you wonder how many of those they will get over the two legs. It comes from a corner as centre-half Benedikt Howedes wins a free header but skims it wide from eight yards. It's a decent chance - and he knows it.
-
19:47:Galatasaray 0-0 Chelsea
The Galatasaray fans giving Olympiakos a run for their money in the jeering stakes as Chelsea enjoy a spell of possession. Willian is playing in the hole behind Fernando Torres so far but expect he, Andre Schurrle and Eden Hazard to be fluid.

Gareth Bale produced a swerving 30-yard howitzer as Real Madrid beat Elche 3-0 in Cristiano Ronaldo's absence last time out.

"He played well enough before the goal but fantastic afterward."

Neil, Hertfordshire: 1991, last day of the season and Luton need to beat Derby at home to stay in the top division. Up front for Derby, who have nothing to play for, is Luton legend Mick Harford. Nicky, Edinburgh: Chris Hughton's first game back at Newcastle was met with chants of Chris Hughton's black and white army around St. James, a true gentleman loved by all fans.

19:39:Worries at West Brom
You may have noticed reports today that the position of West Brom boss Pepe Mel is already under threat despite only being appointed on 9 January.
West Brom have now released a statement. Not what I would describe as a ringing endorsement of Mel's position.
In it sporting & technical director Richard Garlick said: "At present, we are going through a period of transition, which is natural following the appointment of a new Head Coach.
"There is also a lot of frustration at our league position and run of form. I would be more concerned if there wasn't.
"Various meetings have been held within the football department over the past few days to discuss our current situation and what needs to be done to improve results in our final 11 games.
"The discussions have proved constructive. There has been a lot of soul searching and it is clear everyone has a real hunger and desire to keep the club in the Premier League.
"Pepe, the coaching staff and players will now do everything in their power to achieve this common goal."

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie gave an interview to Dutch TV following his side's defeat to Olympiakos, where he said that "Our fellow players are sometimes occupying the spaces I want to play in. When I see that it makes it difficult for me to come to those spaces as well." John Hartson is not impressed with what Van Persie had to say:
"I've been in football for over 20 years, and I have never heard such a player say 'you're moving into my space or my zones'. I think it's nonsense, Sir Alex would have pulled him aside and said, 'this is a joke', going to a Dutch reporter and slaughtering your team mates like that. For me, that shows there are cracks in the team. It's poor from Van Persie, you would expect better from a striker that was pivotal to United's title campaign last season."

Spain striker Fernando Torres is tasked with spearheading Chelsea's attacking threat in Istanbul. Samuel Eto'o - the centre of some cheeky comments by Blues boss Jose Mourinho earlier this week - is ditched to the bench. That is one of three changes for the Blues as midfield pair Oscar and Nemanja Matic, who along with fellow January signing Mohamed Salah is cup-tied, also drop out. Ramires and Andre Schurrle are the other two men recalled.

"It's no coincidence that the German side have won four of their five games since the Dutch striker returned from injury, he was out for five months and had to have knee surgery.

To continue the earlier television analogy (see 1800), there are more sub-plots to this tie than an episode of Eastenders. And here's another one - the ongoing rivalry between Roberto Mancini and Jose Mourinho. There has been an uneasy relationship between the pair ever since the Portuguese boss replaced Mancini at Inter Milan in 2008.
And it has continued this week. Mancini claimed some of the credit for Inter's 2010 Champions League win under Mourinho - quickly dismissed by the Chelsea boss.
"From 11 players, he didn't work with six of them. So he made a five-a-side team because I played with only five players from his team," said Mourinho.

Former Liverpool manager Bob Paisley is the only manager to lift the European Cup on three occasions, guiding the Reds to wins in 1977, 1978 and 1981.
Jose Mourinho is one of 18 managers to win it twice so far, alongside such luminaries as Sir Alex Ferguson, Brian Clough and Carlo Ancelotti.
But nobody has lifted it for three teams. Mourinho is also the only man to reach the semi-finals with four sides, reaching the last four with Porto (2004), Chelsea (2005 and 2007), Internazionale (2010) and Real Madrid (2011, 2012 and 2013).

18:10:Schalke v Real Madrid (19:45 GMT)
In tonight's other game, Schalke manager Jens Keller has said that his side need "a little miracle" to progress at Real Madrid's expense. Mind games? Perhaps, but it could be just plain realism. Real Madrid, top of La Liga, are unbeaten in their last 26 matches and have Cristiano Ronaldo available after a three-match league ban following his red card in the draw with Athletic Bilbao at the start of the month.
Schalke meanwhile endured a disappointing goalless draw with Mainz at the weekend. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, who spent a short and not very sweet seven months at Real Madrid in 2009, is likely to start up front for the Germans and will have more motivation than most to cause an upset.
