After Bangalore, Patna Launches Free Public WiFi Stretch. It’s 20 Km Long!
The next time you visit Patna, you will be able to access free WiFi between Ashok Rajpath to Danapur, a 20 kilometer stretch.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar unveiled a 20 km free WiFi zone, at the e-Bihar summit in Patna. Along with the WiFi corridor, the city also saw the launch of ‘city surveillance and dial 100′ scheme under which at least 100 CCTV cameras will be installed in different localities across Patna and a data center to store data collected by these cameras. IT minister Shahid Ali Khan also said that the Wi-Fi facility would be provided at all tourist spots across the state.
The state’s free Wi-Fi zone is the longest in the world after China’s 3.5 km zone.
Last year Bangalore, launched free public WiFi hotspots located on Mahatma Gandhi Road (M.G Road) and Brigade Road.
Most of these public WiFi services tend to be unreliable and slow. Getting onto them is another tedious process. But hey, something is better than nothing.
