A Red Flag Warning has been extended until 9:00 pm today (Sunday, Sept. 27) due to low relative humidity and high temperatures. The very dry air combined with hot daytime temperatures and still winds remain a concern.
The Station Fire is now at 98% containment with the final containment date unknown due to mitigating circumstances. A small portion of the containment line is completely inaccessible and cannot be reached by crews in a safe manner. This area of open line is located in the San Gabriel Wilderness near Twin Peaks and will be continuously monitored.
Despite there being almost no visible smoke within the Station Fire burn area, travel and recreation within the fire perimeter is still extremely dangerous and not allowed. Visitors and residents in the area are reminded that the road closures and the closure of the southern portion of the Angeles National Forest remain in effect. On Monday, the high pressure ridge we are currently experiencing will break down and move east. As a result temperatures will be decreasing as we move into Tuesday and Wednesday as well as an increase in winds out of the southwest.
