These crawls are part of an effort to archive pages as they are created and archive the pages that they refer to. That way, as the pages that are referenced are changed or taken from the web, a link to the version that was live when the page was written will be preserved.
Then the Internet Archive hopes that references to these archived pages will be put in place of a link that would be otherwise be broken, or a companion link to allow people to see what was originally intended by a page's authors.
This is a collection of web page captures from links added to, or changed on, Wikipedia pages. The idea is to bring a reliability to Wikipedia outlinks so that if the pages referenced by Wikipedia articles are changed, or go away, a reader can permanently find what was originally referred to.
At the 1998 Puerto Rican Day Parade, Christopher Rios, also known as Big Punisher, stood on the float made specifically for he and Fat Joe, soaking in the adulation. The parade was created for people like the Bronx rapper, larger than life, and championing his culture. As the first solo Latino rap artist to go platinum, Big Pun was an enormous talent — his words and raps exhaled like puffs of potent smoke. But, an incident at the parade that year would sully Pun’s celebration. It would serve as an allegory for the rapper — where there were ups, there were downs. Although he was able to translate the pain of a tough childhood into stardom, it was the pain that would eventually create a lasting effect that his rapid fire raps wouldn’t be able to remedy.
@Cajun Boy I choose to believe that because of the breathing problems he was forced to adapt and become that efficient at words per breath. In my head Big Pun was the first mutant.
1 of the greatest to ever do it. Shortly after his death Sony hired my homie to do a Pun duets album (prior to Biggie duets) and it was going to be Pun over latin inspired beats with tons of guests appearances and Fat Joe caught wind of it and cockblocked it. Sony cut off funds and it was never finished. It would have been epic.
I heard about this years ago. Only I heard it was cockblocked because it was gonna be Pun over reggaeton type beats and just sounds he usually didn’t rhyme over which based on that logic, I was glad it got blocked.
I’m glad joe refused to do anymore of pun’s posthumous albums after endangered species for good reason, because it knew it would be a disaster, come on a big pun duets album and reggaeton album was an insult to pun indeed, thank god it never got released.
Fat Joe is fulla shit. As I said in my initial post, I personally know the dude who was contracted by Sony to do the album and have heard around 11-12 of the songs. Not reggaeton beats. Joe was just pissed he was not gonna profit off of it and proceeded to cock block. Sorry that you believe everything u hear but the story he told in the interview is total bullshit.
@Dirk_DiggahoE really, reggaeton was the hottest thing out there and joe said nope leave pun’s legacy as it is, he got tired of running pun’s legacy into the ground and refused to release the big pun reggaeton album, he did the right thing for once and let him rest in peace, unlike liza rios who wants to run pun’s legacy right into ground by releasing shitty songs and remixes and putting rappers that pun would never rock with on the album, just like they did the late pac and biggie’s posthumous albums after 1998 (although i like until the end of time and better dayz, those were the exceptions).
so i’m glad he’s letting pun live in peace, unlike that witch afeni and the disaster diddy who really wrecked the dead rappers completely.
My advice for pun’s family and fans, let that man rest in peace, not run his legacy right into the ground, your are tarnishing his name period.
@Dirk_DiggahoE get a life, what he is saying has been true and wake up, i’m very glad that joe refused to do anymore of pun’s posthumous albums after endangered species, except for two unreleased pun’s songs on two diffferent albums, because he knew it would be a disaster and an insult to the late pun, just like they have insulted the late biggie and 2pac’s legacies, so get a life asshole and don’t tell me what to do.

Just say it Liza . Be honest say I want to get paid from Pun for doing nothing. I don’t care that theres not enough material to make quality music and it will ruin his legacy as a talented rapper, long as I can keep getting checks. Just be honest. No class!! You’d be happy if they took half ass unfinished verses and made shitty songs like they did to biggy long as you get paid. right.
liza needs to be honest and admit that she wants to run pun’s legacy into the ground.
I Haven’t liked joe since pun died, but he told the truth here, so ever tell me what i can do mutha fucker and leave me the hell alone.
sometimes they need to let pun rest in peace period and I mean it.
@Dirk_DiggahoE and now it’s time to put that book away and let chris rivers and fat joe’s son continue the legacies of their fathers, let the torch be passed to the next generation.
since you’re obviously a simpleton I will make it easy for u. This is 1 of the tracks that was to be used to the Pun Latin album. Does this sound like reggaeton? Lmao
damn bruh. U really are dense, huh?
I am speaking on the real album that Sony hired my homie to do. You’re referencing some bullshit reggaeton remix some cat made and put on youtube. Wtf does the video u posted have to do with anything?
@Dirk_DiggahoE @E-Lie and besides pun’s still better than 98% of the b.s. that’s passed on rap since the late 90’s, come on laffy taffy all these other trash out there today, makes me wanna throw up, pun was so original and so nice in his rap that he paved the way for joell ortiz, big lou, termanology, garcia, pitbull and other latin rappers of today, you got to thank big pun for paving the way for that.
And when are they gonna let the late big pun rest in peace, it’s nothing but a cash cow now and not about preserving the legacy anymore, please do the right thing and let him rest in peace, they are just gonna run the late big pun’s legacy right into the ground, it has jumped the shark, just like the 2pac and biggie’s posthumous albums has become after life after death (Notorious B.I.G.) and better dayz (2pac).
I remember dudes saying that he was rapping from a mattress, a lot of dudes can’t rap standing up lol. Capital punishment stays in my iPhone at all times
Solid write-up… Pun was indeed unreal. Sky was the limit for what he coulda been.
I remember seeing an old video of Pun when he was going by “Pun Diesel” and was fairly fit and healthy and in a designer suit. this was pre-captiol punishment. and I remember thinking dude was nice, but not quite polished.
By time CP dropped it was a wrap. dude was a monster.
And yall remember who had the 2nd dopest verse on Capitol Punishment?
Black “my man hunnid grand” Thought!
Sad part is I think , Pun—like way too many artists, athletes—find themselves surrounded by people who see enabling as love and loyalty. This dude ate like a pig nonstop for years and nobody close to him stopped him. Nobody got this guy a dietician and a trainer. Nobody said “Pun let’s go to the health club, let’s workout.” He literally ate and partied himself to death.
He was reportedly 698lbs when he died and his body was cremated in part to keep funeral costs down. [www.nytimes.com]
shame how buddy went out. Hard to just a cat off 2 albums and he was physically sick as hell during Yeaah Baby… But I’d say had Pun been healthy and lived we’d be talking about him as a Top 10 GOAT.
I’ve been bumping Capital Punishment a whole lot lately. You can tell Pun loved rap, it’s like you’re listening to a student’s dissertation and earning his doctorate with flying colors in the college of hip hop.
I fucked up that analogy a bit, but whatever. Tres Leches is all anyone needs to listen to in order to find out just how talented Pun was. We got Prodigy at the top of his game, and Inspectah Deck rapping over a RZA production with other rappers, which is where he thrives, and Pun just raps circles around them.
I Listen to that album on youtube and it’s still a classic, nobody will make an album as great as pun made, that album turned pun into a superstar and a household name in his short life, the late big pun just like selena will never be replaced.
I was mad as fuck about Pun passing. I was at college and it was just a lot to deal with at the time, like Pac, Biggie, L who were all personal favourites and now this. And because it wasn’t gun related I just felt like it was avoidable so I was just so mad. With him. Not really sure what my point is and I guess now as a husband and father I look at it with a more mature perspective but at the time there was a lot of anger and pain. But RIP, one of the best to ever do it. Never forgotten, always missed.

Sorry to break into this lovefest BUT, the dude was a wife beater. I can’t get behind a man who beats his wife with a freaking GUN. According to her, he beat her almost every day. IMO, she’s better off with him gone. He probably would have killed her eventually.

Yes because so many of your other favorite rappers have done so much positivity in this world. Nothing negative that you probably just aren’t aware of. Smh.
Yeah he beat, because pun’s wife was cheated on her everytime and if liza was abused, she could have left him and called the police and file criminal charges against him, but nooooo, she stayed with her, i have no sympathy for her, she has no one to blame but herself for that messy situation.
Nah… but Pun was nice. Flow-wise, I think Pun rapped the way Big woulda rapped if he didn’t care about selling records. Big had crazy breathe control and could hit you with a gang of metaphors and rappity rappity bars, too.
But Puff had other ideas.
Can you imagine Pun on a more hiphop-centric label like early Bad Boy or even Rawkus? Sheesh.
Get over it, boys. He’s not my cup of tea. I prefer KRS, Pharoahe Monch, De La, Kweli, Doom, Ghostface, Sean Price, El P. Not sure how old you guys are but I’ve been listening to rap since hearing La Di Da Di was an incredibly rare treat in the middle of the day on the radio. Since before it was allowed to be played before 11pm on Friday & Saturday nights only. I have my faves from the 80’s, 90’s 00’s….then I had a family so I can’t say I’ve discovered so many newer artists (although Kendrick is fantastic as is Killer Mike). Rather than name every top lyricist, I’m simply pointing out that Pun didn’t do it for me. His singles never made me want to run out & buy his albums. Before anyone else jumps on me for being so ignorant, yes I respect guys like Nas who is very talented but I never fell in love w/his music like I did on Illmatic….maybe it was just the time in my life living in a shitty BK neighborhood. Bottom line is when a sick Beatnuts beat came on w/mediocre lyrics, that was just as good to me as goofy ass Pun w/stronger lyrics. And putting them on the same track was of course fantastic. Still, never wanted his albums. Maybe I missed out. But I don’t give a shit either.
Nobody will ever be as good as pun, nobody will ever replace pun, nobody will ever be as musicially as good as pun was, pun was a super lyrical and truly amazing, something most rappers today don’t even think about, pun also had charm, style, image and substance that most rappers don’t seem to have anymore these days and it’s a shame.

Dude’s breath control was un-fucking-believable. Even if you know the words it’s hard to keep up simply because he knew what the fuck he was doing.
Which is kind of remarkable considering the breathing problems he had.
@Cajun Boy I choose to believe that because of the breathing problems he was forced to adapt and become that efficient at words per breath. In my head Big Pun was the first mutant.
he was super lyrical.
Criminally underrated.

damn. Any leaks of that or anything?
I leaked 4-5 tracks on my Street Bangers series. I am steady pushing dude to finish it and put it out.

Fuck u talkin bout? As I stated, it was gonna be latin inspired beats. Nobody said reggaeton.
@Dirk_DiggahoE
actually it was reggaeton period and if you don’t believe me, see fat joe’s interview with DJ Green lantern it will shock you.

you’re obviously trolling or can’t read because I just explained Joe’s story is bogus and I have the music to prove it. Peace

Always catches me off gaurd, def has made me tear up a couple times.

I think Fat Joe and some other NY outlets started this. Cypress Hill went platinum quite a bit though. Got a grammy nom too…
He was the first “solo” artist to do so
Second only to Nas in my book.

His verse on John Blze should go down as one of the best of all time. This dude so underrated as an MC that it’s sad. I’ve always had him in my top 5

I’ll take pun over 98% of the bullshit that’s passed on as rap today nor pun imitations that try to be pun, but lack the edge that he had.
RIP Big Pun. One Of The Illest To Do It.
Now it’s time to put that book away do the right thing and let pun rest in peace, i’m sure he would’ve wanted it that way.
