In 2009 he took over from Ray French as the main TV commentator for rugby league.

He has worked extensively in football, and has commentated and reported on the past five World Cups for BBC radio and the host broadcasters, several Euros finals, the Copa America and the Women's World Cup.

Having watched Rugby League since childhood, he has attended every Challenge Cup final since 1974 - including the replay in 1982 - and has worked as a journalist at each final since 1986.
