Преподавание рунического письма тюркских народов раннего средневековья в университетах Республик Алтай и Хакасия привело к появлению на камнях и скалах новых рунических надписей. Публикуя одну из них, автор разбирает особенности енисейского рунического письма, показывающие, что эта надпись подделка. Выделена важная особенность собенность енисейских эпитафий - в отличие от орхонской традиции в них не указывались этнонимы.Подробно разобраны псевдоэтнонимы, насаждаемые современными исследователями при чтении енисейских эпитафий. Через 10−15 лет фальшивые надписи нельзя будет отличить от древних. Так мы можем сами уничтожить культурное достояние предков.

В статье сообщаются некоторые небезынтересные для русской этимологии результаты совместного лексикографического проекта К. Л. Борисова и А. К. Шапошникова [Русско-санскритский сравнительный словарь]. В процессе состав-ления словаря, соавторы обнаружили много новых случаев санскритско-русских изоглосс, пропущенных или не получивших должного освещения компаративи-стами прошлого. Выявлены общие словообразовательные модели. Уточнены или пересмотрены этимологии некоторых русск. и санскр. слов. В некоторых случаях удалось реконструировать семантическую историю слов, наметить первичные зна-чения и проследить эволюцию семантики. Эти этимологические этюды охватыва-ют часть праславянского словника от S до Ž. The article reports some results, interesting for the Russian etymology, of the recent lexicographical project of C.L. Borissoff and A.C. Shaposhnikov [Russian-Sanskrit Dictionary of Common and Cognate Words], implemented in 2015–2016. In the process of compiling this dictionary, the co-authors found many new instances of Sanskrit-Russian isoglosses, which were in disregard by comparativists of the past. Some common word formation and derivation models were revealed. Etymologies for some Russian and Sanskrit words are updated or revised. In some cases it was possible to reconstruct the semantic history of words, to outline the primary meanings and to trace the evolution of semantics. These etymological sketches cover a part of Common Slavonic vocabulary from P to Ž.

Author examines a problem of correct phonetic articulation of the ethnonim Scyth. Based on the rules of ancient Greek grammar and also on the comparison of available written records of ethnonim Scyth in ancient Greek language and Semitic languages author comes to the conclusion that the correct transcription of the ethnonim Scyth is «Scuth». Comparisons of the ancient written records show us that the ethnonim «Scuth» of ancient Greek sources and ethnonim «Ashguz/Ishkuz» of ancient Semitic sources contain the same root – «guz/kuz». This conclusion confirms the fallacy of the beliefs of some scientists who insist that ethnonim Scyth have never existed.

The article deals with the names of the Scythian kings mentioned by Herodotus in his work "History". The etymological analysis of anthroponyms is made. It is established that they have an origin in the Celtic language environment. The proposed research suggests that the Scythian language has its origins in the Celtic language environment.
