I am a political theorist at the University of Sydney. In addition to the books listed here I have published about twenty book chapters and a hundred journal articles. Years ago I tried to separate my personal and professional identities. Personally I was Michael Jackson (my mother had no children named Mike, despite the ready assumption made by many people) and professionally I was M W Jackson. A vanity I guess and I regretted it when a journal transposed the initials to W M Jackson. More recently when universities count everything to justify funding, I have found being M W Jackson is too difficult. It is too hard to search on the Web of Science. So I have become Michael Jackson professionally as well as personally. Whole again! However, there is a price to pay for the completion. Thousands of false positives for others named 'Michael Jackson.' I am an avid reader of fiction. I like krimies because they have strong plots, and I like them set around the world, in Bangkok, Oslo, and so on as I am an arm chair crime traveller.
