Addendum E:  Army Force Generation (ARFORGEN) Process

The ARFORGEN process is used to manage the force and ensure the ability to support demands for Army forces.  ARFORGEN sequences activities for all active and reserve Army units to include:

To sustain global commitments, we transition units through a progression of three sequential readiness pools:

 The Army continuously updates or modifies policies, procedures, regulations, capacity, and capabilities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the ARFORGEN process.  Recent events or policies that affect the way we execute the ARFORGEN are:

ARFORGEN establishes a basis to schedule deployments on an Army-wide scale.  ARFORGEN also provides the following critical objectives:

Surge additional BCTs, augmented by  all required supporting organizations (given appropriate Reserve Component mobilization authority)
