Among the Swindon Town Legends to return to the County Ground to watch the 2-1 victory over Bury were 1969 Wembley League Cup winners Peter Downsborough and Arthur Horsfield. Peter Downsborough According to the STFC website Peter Downsborough was 'possibly the greatest keeper to play for Swindon'.

A hero of the 1969 League Cup Final win over Arsenal it was said that "for quarter of an hour, it was Downsborough versus Arsenal, and Downsborough won". Arthur Horsfield Arthur Horsfield joined Swindon from Newcastle United, in May 1969, for a club record of £17,500. In the town's first season in Division Two, after their cup winning and promotion season in 1968/1969, Horsfield ended the season as the club's top scorer, with 22 goals. Stars from the Seventies will be visiting the club in the New Year. The reunions on, and off the pitch, are being organised by the chairman of the Supporters' Club Roger Bunce. |
