AP Images/InvisionJason Bateman has joined Liam Neeson and Diane Lane in Felt, the biopic of the man who was the mysterious Deep Throat during the infamous Watergate scandal.
Peter Landesman, the filmmaker behind the upcoming Will Smith NFL drama Concussion, wrote the script and is directing the spy drama.
Bateman will play FBI agent and Mark Felt lieutenant Charlie Bates, who discovers that Felt (Neeson) is leaking classified information on the Watergate investigation, and is conflicted about whether to destroy his mentor or protect him.
Lane is playing Felt’s wife.
Landesman is producing with Ridley Scott, Gary Goetzman, Tom Hanks, Giannina Scott, Marc Butan, Christopher Woodrow and Jay Roach.
Principal photography is set to begin in March 2016.
Bateman recently starred in The Gift, the surprise hit thriller from Blumhouse. He also starred in, directed and produced The Family Fang, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival.
