Here are your Cardiff City headlines for Sunday, May 4.

Cardiff linked with QPR midfielder

Cardiff have been linked with a transfer swoop for QPR midfielder Lorent Talla.

The Bluebirds will play their football in the third tier next season and a huge summer awaits them if they are to bounce back up into the Championship at the first time of asking.

And according to journalist Graeme Bailey, via EFL Analysis, Cardiff, as well as rivals Swansea and other teams in Europe, such as French sides Strasbourg and Reims, are thought to be weighing up a move for the 20-year-old.

The Kosovo international has made just one appearance for QPR's first team and has registered three assists in six outings for the under-21s team, with injury having hampered his progress in west London to date.

Talla, an attacking-minded midfielder, has been with QPR since he was 12 but has just one year left to run on his deal. Join the Cardiff City breaking news and top stories WhatsApp community.

Salech drops hint over future

Yousef Salech ended his season on a personal high note with two goals in the defeat at Norwich City.

The striker has been a ray of light since signing for the club in the January window, netting nine goals in 22 outings for the Bluebirds, leading many supporters to believe that he will be vital to City's chances of achieving promotion next term.

However, his exploits in front of goal are likely to have drawn eyes from teams across the Championship, with supporters fearing that his form in front of goal might have alerted teams to a potential transfer.

But Salech has given fans some optimism with his post on social media after the final game at Carrow Road, writing: "A big thanks for your support throughout the season Bluebirds. We will bounce back."

Fans appeared hopeful that final sentence was a hint over his future, suggesting he would be part of the attempt to bounce straight back up from the third tier at the first time of asking.

Interim manager Aaron Ramsey has told supporters to brace for interest, but insisted the club should look to keep hold of players of Salech's calibre.

"There is always going to be interest in players of his quality, that's part of football. He showed today what he's capable of doing and he's only going to get better as well," Ramsey said.

"Some of the goals he's scored and what he does off the ball, that's not to be sniffed at. He's a serious player who is only going to get better.

"We always want to keep our best players and he's no different. There's a few things that need to be addressed over the next few weeks and that will give clarity to players, fans and everyone."

Ramsey: Young players were 'superb'

While the final game of the campaign saw Cardiff fall to a 4-2 defeat at Norwich City, there were some positives.

Young players Ronan Kpakio, Dylan Lawlor and Tanatswa Nyakuhwa were all afforded game time at Carrow Road, with relegation already confirmed and nothing riding on the outcome of the match.

Cardiff could opt to lean on academy players more next year if they are to cut their cloth accordingly in line with the massive drop off in revenue they are likely to experience in League One compared to the Championship. And those three are some of the more promising talents to come out of the under-21s.

Speaking about the academy, Ramsey said after the match: "This academy has got so many talented players. It's about creating that pathway again.

"For those players to come on, I thought every one of them were superb today. Some of them looked like they had been there doing it for years.

"It's a very proud day for them and it's a glimpse of what we have next season." Sign up to our daily Cardiff City newsletter here.
