  I know I have a South African connection.  I once ran across a woman DNA match with the surname of Carroll who said she was living in South Africa.  We didn't really connect information unfortunately.  I know my Irish ancestors from County Westmeath had quite a number of Carrolls in the vicinity.  This will take some work on my part.

One name not mentioned is my Cousin Sydney Percival Bunting ,who founded the South African Communist Party,which eventually became the ANC. SP was neither Black nor actually South African but a Cambridge educated Englishman .He set business in South Africa as a lawyer and one of the first collegues was Ghandi. Thats on my Dasds side of the family,Where another cousin,a son of SP, was memeber of Parliament until 2000 . There are two villages in South Africa named Old Bunting and Bunting ville and were named after my 3x Great Grandfather,The Rev.Dr Jabez Bunting.

More South African ancestors were the Cutter and Kendall Families who lived around Paarl until 1865 when they migrated to New Zealand. My Great grandfather,Part maori, Gordon Kendall, fought in the 2nd Boer war and his cousin from the far North of New Zealand was the 1st New Zealand Soldier to die on active duty.  The Kendalls matriarch,Maria Mittens ,Born in St Helena in 1825 was a freed slave as were her parents and great grandparents.
