Expand the scope?
[edit]With the issue regarding Manila as a province of China, I thought maybe we should expand the scope of this article by renaming it somehow with a more appropriate name that would suit new developments about the topic "Philippines, Province of China". —hueman1 (talk • contributions) 12:01, 20 August 2020 (UTC)

- Support. This was the article's title back in 2023, albeit in a slightly different format (Philippines, province of China, banners). It was moved to its current title for no apparent reason. HueMan1 (talk) 22:16, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
- The reason was my attempt at neutralizing what seemed an unduly inflammatory article title. Glad to hear people are more keyed in to how this is an ambiguous title, and would even be fine about my original move being undone for the time being. But, I really don't think the original/proposed title is ideal for the same reason. Surely a more specific, but more encyclopedic title would be preferred (cf. WP:NDESC)? - While the banners does have an inherently provocative and inflammatory messaging, the original title/proposed title also accurate to describe these tarpaulins. It is the WP:COMMONNAME for these signages. When search for say "Philippines, Province of China" banners, they are without a mistake referring to these controversial signages. I don't think there are any other appropriate titles. WP:NDESC does apply here, yes.Hariboneagle927 (talk) 13:25, 3 May 2025 (UTC)
- Like I said, I'm fine with my move being reversed right now, and would automatically support any WP:NDESC title that others here agree is appropriate. Remsense ‥ 论 13:28, 3 May 2025 (UTC)

- Support moving back to original "Philippines, province of China, banners". Current article is downright terrible. What banners were these? Howard the Duck (talk) 11:07, 1 May 2025 (UTC)
- Support The move by Remsense is a terrible one, its imprecise especially given the big tarpaulin banner culture in Philippines. (heck we have holiday greetings, campaign posters, and normal everyday PR banners)Hariboneagle927 (talk) 03:35, 2 May 2025 (UTC)
- Genuinely appreciate you and the others correcting me on my ignorance here. Would not have made this move without an RM if I had the same impulse today. Remsense ‥ 论 07:12, 3 May 2025 (UTC)
