Speedy deletion nomination of User:Electropunk65/sandbox
[edit]
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on User:Electropunk65/sandbox, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
- It appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free Web hosting service. (See section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion.)
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. - Please advise reason for this. It might not be perfect - it is my first submission after all. But it is genuine and it did take a lot of work. The subject "Andy Pickford" has genuine valid reasons for being on Wikipedia since some of his peers already are. Omitting him would leave a knowledge gap. So please advise what needs to be done to rectify the situation and i will endeavour to correct it. Electropunk65 (talk) 10:43, 23 April 2025 (UTC)

- Have made amendments. They may be sufficient, they may not. Awaiting on one key article from Belgian Prog Rock magazine "Prog Resiste". This artist is part of a niche genre which includes Ian Boddy and Mark Shreeve in the UK, better known artists such as Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze on the continent. That the artist is notable enough isn't in question. He's known globally, to most members of the EMMY Awards voting committee, and regarded as at the top of his game in his niche genre. Why does he appear to lack reviews, citations etc? Apparently, he's an "off-gridder", refuses to market or advertise, doesn't tour, doesn't submit music for review etc. He's turned down several "album of the year" nominations from the leading genre outlet "Schallwelle" (Germany). And yet, after 40 years of contribution to his field, has still become widely known enough in Prog and Electronica circuits and commands respect from his fellow artists. In short, he is notable for his influence, not for his celebrity status. I'm hoping this does not preclude him from being included. Electropunk65 (talk) 18:19, 23 April 2025 (UTC)

Tips
[edit]First, do not remove sources as I accepted it based on the sources at that time and the article will go through another review so let what's there be.
To add additional sources and related content, be sure when you are in edit mode you are using the Visual Editor. When you select edit, on the top right corner there is pencil icon where you can choose which editing tool (Source or Visual Editor). Select Visual Editor then follow the instructions at WP:INTREFVE. Essentially, you copy the url into the Automatic citation function, click Generate and it will format it for you, then Insert. It's like magic. In a couple clicks it returns a formatted citation. S0091 (talk) 20:19, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
- I'm going to leave everything be for now and make sure I've read through every guide, instruction, FAQ, etc. I'm clearly still a novice at this and I need to do better. Electropunk65 (talk) 10:21, 26 April 2025 (UTC)
- For understanding what Wikipedia considers a reliable source WP:RSP might be helpful as it is a list of common sources that have been discussed several times and community's reliability determination. WP:42 is a quick read as is WP:THREE for notability. Your first article is pretty good for the basics of creating an article. Editing just takes practice but I do strongly encourage using Visual Editor. You can also do the WP:Wikipedia Adventure. You know where my talk page is if you have questions but there's also the Teahouse. S0091 (talk) 17:35, 26 April 2025 (UTC)

Note about your recent drafts
[edit]Hello Electropunk65, hope you are doing well. I'm writing about some of your recent submissions to Articles for Creation - between me and MCE89, we have declined 5 drafts for articles that already exist today. I'd like to request that you make sure to check carefully to see if a subject is already represented in a Wikipedia article. If you'd like to make improvements to existing articles, you are welcome to do so but a duplicate draft cannot be accepted at AfC. Thank you, Zzz plant (talk) 17:24, 26 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Electropunk65. I was actually just writing up a message for you as well — to add to what Zzz plant has said above, I wanted to let you know that while reviewing these drafts I also noticed that none of their sources appear to exist. All of the sources I checked led to error pages and there is no trace of them on Google. Are you able to explain why this might be?
- In future, please verify your sources and do not rely on AI tools to write content. AI chatbots have a tendency to hallucinate sources and are generally not suitable for writing on Wikipedia. You can refer to WP:LLM for more on this. Thank you. MCE89 (talk) 17:33, 26 April 2025 (UTC)
