Quick speedy deletion nomination

[edit]

Hello there, and thank you for your help with NPP! I wanted to reach out because I noticed your recent speedy deletion nomination of Jane C Schroeder, which occurred 25 after the article was created. Per NPPHOUR, articles shouldn't be nominated for deletion if they are actively being edited. In practice, this means articles shouldn't be nominated if they have been meaningfully edited in the past hour.

I understand and sympathize with wanting blank articles out of main space, but we also need to recognize that it can come across as bitey to nominate an article for deletion too quickly -- especially considering that articles in mainspace do not need to be complete, and editors are allowed to develop articles in the mainspace .

I hope this makes sense. Thank you again for all your help with NPP. Take care, Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 04:26, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Gotcha. I will endeavor to take more care. If only everything got drafted first... Thank you for explaining! Cheers. JFHJr () 04:30, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Absolutely! As you continue with NPP, you'll learn that a lot of people create articles in the mainspace. The good thing to know, however, is that articles aren't indexed by search engines until they are approved through NPP, so there's no worry in people accidentally searching for a subject on Google then finding a blank article, for example. :) Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 04:34, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I had not begun to worry in that direction. I see the collabs and wonder about school protects. It's worth sniffing for meat, though technically there may just be socks. Thanks for your feedback here. I look forward to hearing from you anytime. JFHJr () 04:39, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
In this case, it looked like at least one of the editors was in a WikiEd course, so my guess is that the editors are creating the article for their class. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 05:50, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined speedy deletion: Courtney Fitzhugh

[edit]

Hi again! I wanted to let you know that I have declined your A7 speedy deletion nomination of Courtney Fitzhugh because Fitzhuh has a credible claim of significance, which is a lower bar than notability. If you think she is non-notable, you can do a BEFORE search, then potentially bring to AFD. Let me know if you have any follow-up questions. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 05:49, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I have also declined your A7 speedy deletion nomination of Jonathan Yim. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 05:51, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your email

[edit]

Sorry for the late response--I hadn't checked in a while. Speaking of checking, I'm not a CheckUser anymore, so I really can't help you. I'm sorry, Drmies (talk) 21:56, 30 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

No worries! I went ahead and tried. I figured my email went into spam and it was far from urgent. Thanks for your response here! JFHJr () 00:53, 31 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting update

[edit]

Per [1] he is now Prime Minister (In detention). And there is another website, https://usbgov.org/cabinet. It's not hard for a Wikipedian to remain cynical. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 10:12, 14 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Oh boy:[2][3] Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 10:21, 14 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
And User talk:ChoiceGlobalTv. That letter on Twitter could very well be genuine, but who knows. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:16, 14 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I've had an elevated blood pressure since last Friday, between work and taxes. I just finished all my tasks and reporting. I badly needed a laugh, and "(in detention)" got it out of me. In the US, there are many sovereign citizens in jails. If it's at all similar in Finland, he'll be among his own peers. Good work with the NLT at ANI. Looks like lawyering without a license is now solidly a theme with this subject! JFHJr () 00:22, 15 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Gråbergs Gråa Sång, this is basically an unaccomplished and therefor yet-unreal upcoming announcement and is probably not encyclopedically noteworthy in a biography. It's closer to WP:NOTNEWS, I think. I'm not going to disturb your edit, but I hope you'll consider removing it and its citation now or once the event occurs: the first few hearings are usually procedural and biographically insignificant, lacking judgment or sentence. The fact that he has an upcoming date at all is not surprising or informative in the context of his arrest, and may be simply insignificant for being intermediate. Cheers! JFHJr () 18:50, 20 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
(Once the event occurs in reality, it might have some import, in which case a totally different citation can replace this one, but we can't know yet.) JFHJr () 18:58, 20 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No, Since he's in jail, I think it's reasonable to mention what happens next if the source is good. It might not be more that "How do you plead? Fine, trial in six months.", but IMO it's a reasonable addition. I didn't add the name of his old and new lawyer, that I felt was unnecessary detail. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 21:02, 20 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You made this article a long time ago and haven't updated it a long time. Quite a few of the sources are dead links. Would it be possible for you to update the article or resolve the dead links? Velayinosu (talk) 03:18, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I did create the article but it's not mine to keep updated. It's for anyone to add to and update, including you. If you'd like to see archive urls in the reference links (see Help:Using archive.today and Help:Using the Wayback Machine), you are free to add them! Cheers. JFHJr () 19:25, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Velayinosu, Also I'll comment that authoring like 130 articles over almost 20 years means you let almost all of them go, stop watchlisting, and entrust them to the editor community. I think you're the perfect community member to update this article. See a problem, fix a problem right? Please follow up here with any technical questions, but please do have at it. This article is over a decade old, pushing 15 years. JFHJr () 22:02, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
