How to speedy delete
[edit]Hey, sorry to bother you. I wanna ask, how can a page be deleted as soon as possible? Because the page Kupiansk Offensive that I nominated was actually meant for Draft:Kupiansk Offensive. But it seems a new Wikipedia user accidentally created the main page instead. Now, the Draft:Kupiansk Offensive can’t be moved to Kupiansk Offensive since the page already exists. Thank you Bukansatya (talk) 01:24, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- In and of itself, I don't think anything in the speedy deletion criteria would by itself apply in such a conflict; the AfD you started would have to play out. That said, Bcom123 (talk · contribs), the creator of the mainspace version, did make a comment there that could make the G7 criterion applicable (the only edit to the article other than their creation was the AfD tag), though they might have to be the one to tag it as such. That's the best I have to offer here (I mostly do delsorting and other gnomish tasks at AfD, and tend not to be involved with draftspace/AfC at all). WCQuidditch ☎ ✎ 04:28, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks beforehand for taking your time for me, but honestly, I'm sorry I don't really get what you explained because this is my first time dealing with something like this. From what I understand, at least if the page creator agrees and/or the creator marks the page with a G7 tag, the speedy delete process can be done, right? Oh yeah, I also wanna ask, roughly how many votes are needed for a page to be deleted? Bukansatya (talk) 06:32, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- As best I can tell, your understanding with regard to G7 appears to be correct. As for your second question, discussions such as at AfD are not supposed to be about "voting" despite any appearances to the contrary, and closures can be based more on the quality of the comments and less on simply vote-counting; at times, there may be no consensus, even if it appears one side has more "votes". (There are also procedures for when there are few or no comments, which in uncontroversial cases can still lead to deletion, but with two bolded comments already this probably will not come into play.) - Alright, I think I kinda get it now. Thanks for taking the time to respond to me Bukansatya (talk) 17:55, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
