Meet the Chief
Police Chief Jill Schlude leads the Columbia Police Department. City Manager De’Carlon Seewood announced her appointment on Nov. 15, 2023. Sworn in to her position on Dec. 4, 2023, she is Columbia’s first female Police Chief.
Starting in 2005, Chief Schlude has served as a Columbia Police Officer, Police Sergeant, Deputy Chief of Police and the Assistant Police Chief.
Her education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Administration from Columbia College and a Master’s in Strategic Leadership from Stephens College. Her additional professional development includes the Senior Management Institute for Police (SMIP), Boston University, sponsored by the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF).
Chief Schlude believes that stepping into the role of police chief is not just a promotion; it’s a commitment to safeguarding our community, administering justice fairly, and leading our dedicated team with unwavering integrity. She is equally honored and humbled at the opportunity to serve her community in this important role.
