James R. Moore is a judge on the Fifth District Appellate Court of Illinois. He was first assigned to the court by the Illinois Supreme Court in December 2014, effective January 2, 2015, to fill a vacancy. He was previously a judge on the First Judicial Circuit Court from 2007 to 2014.[1]
Moore was elected in 2016 to the Illinois Fifth District Appellate Court to fill the vacancy created by Judge James M. Wexstten's retirement on January 29, 2014.[2] His term began on December 5, 2016, and expires on December 6, 2026. His temporary assignment seat was then filled by David K. Overstreet.
Education
Moore received a B.A. in economics and political science from Southern Illinois University in 1974 his J.D. from Southern Illinois University School of Law in 1977.[3]

Moore was a 2016 candidate for the Illinois Fifth District Appellate Court. He filed on November 24, 2015. He was joined in the race by Illinois Second Judicial Circuit Court Judge Jo Beth Weber. Moore and Weber each ran unopposed in their parties' primaries and faced each other in the November 8 general election.
