STEP THREE: If possible, attend the Flex Humanities Intake Day at Van Tech

Flex Humanities Intake Day:  27th January 2025 from 8:30 am to 12pm

All applicants welcome! There is no pre-selection process. The Intake Day is divided into two parts. Please arrange with your child’s school to be released for the day. Once students have checked in we asked guardians to return at the end of the Intake to collect their child.

Part one is a series of cooperative work stations that also includes group conversations with Dr. Martelli, Mr. Moon and other teachers involved in our program.

Part Two is an in-class essay write based on student choice of several philosophical topics. Unless there is a IEP with specific computer required accommodation, all essays will be handwritten. Please notify us in advance if any assistive technology is required.

Intake essay writing should be finished by 12:00 noon. Please pre-arrange with your child to meet them in the main foyer in front of the auditorium. Some students finish early or require a little extra time. Please arrange a way to communicate (text) etc.

While it is highly recommended that students attend, it is not mandatory. We can arrange a drop-in date when they can attend Van Tech to be interviewed and to write the Intake Essay. Please let us know if you are not attending the Intake Day but would like to continue the application. Please also be aware that this option depends on the availability of staff. It is preferred they attend the Intake day.
