Disney will release its PG-rated Dick Tracy under the Touchstone insignia, not the Walt Disney label as originally planned. After reviewing the film in completed form, company executives decided to label it Touchstone because some material, including violence and sexual innuendo, might not be suitable for small children, a spokesman said.
He added that the film contained no foul language, no nudity and no bloodshed. The studio made the same decision regarding Who Framed Roger Rabbit in 1988.
Touchstone Pictures is the distribution arm for Disney’s more sophisticated films.
Dick Tracy, starring Warren Beatty and sultry singer Madonna, will premiere in Orlando June 14 and open to the public nationally June 15.
