The PlayStation 5 has been out for some time now, and its reception has been mostly positive. It includes lots of quality-of-life improvements over its predecessor, the PlayStation 4, such as faster load times, a solid-state drive (SSD) instead of a regular hard disk drive (HDD), and an improved controller in the form of the new DualSense. There’s even the PS5 Pro, which boasts even better performance than the base version. However, a console is only as good as the games available on it and, thankfully, the PS5 has you covered on that front as well.
While the machine already has a worthy library of great PS5 games, there are even more to look forward to — most of the best upcoming video games are going to hit PS5, but there are some that will only be upcoming Xbox Series X games, upcoming PC games, or upcoming Switch 2 games.
These are the best upcoming PS5 games to look forward to.

Marathon
Bungie is looking to reaffirm its mastery in sci-fi shooters (see Destiny 2 and Halo) by giving a nostalgic nod to the ’90s with the revamped classic Marathon. The PvP-focused extraction shooter unfolds on the enigmatic Tau Ceti IV, where players become cybernetic mercenaries navigating the remnants of a lost colony. Solo or in crews of three, they hunt for alien artifacts, loot, and gear.
Borderlands 4
October
Ghost of Yotei
Directive 8020
Expected 2025 releases
These games are confirmed to be coming to PS5 at some point soon. Some have been given vague 2025 release plans while we’re just speculating on others. We have hope for them all though.
Killing Floor III
Little Nightmares III
Ninja Gaiden 4
The Outer Worlds 2
It wasn’t a sure thing at first that The Outer Worlds 2 would come to PS5 after Microsoft purchased developer Obsidian, but thankfully we can look forward to this next space comedy RPG sometime in 2025. The basic plot states that you will be investigating the cause of various rifts appearing across multiple planets. If this game is anything like the first, expect a lighthearted journey with great companions, plenty of side missions, and a biting commentary on capitalism and consumerism.
Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault
Hollow Knight: Silksong
Grand Theft Auto VI
Mafia: The Old Country
Light No Fire
From the creators of No Man’s Sky comes a fantastical exploration adventure with a lot of promise. Light No Fire takes place on an alternate Earth where mythical creatures like animated skeletons and dragons roam. We don’t know a lot about this title yet, but it looks similar to Hello Games’ previous hit — there will be lots of foraging, crafting, and trekking across a massive world. Platforms haven’t officially been announced but we expect it to launch of PS5.
Gothic 1 Remake
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2
2026 games
Saros
Star Wars Zero Company
Games with no release window
All we know about the games listed below is that they’re in development. Most of them are probably a few years away from launch.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds
While we will never see Mario Kart 9 on the PS5, we do know that Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will still hit PS5. This isn’t just a Sonic-themed knock-off, either, but a fantastic racer in its own right with tight controls, great courses, and fun power-ups.
Fairgames
With the utter and embarrassing collapse of Concord, there’s a lot of newfound pressure on what is likely PlayStation’s next live-service attempt: Fairgames. Besides being a competitive heist game about stealing from the rich, very little is known about this new project from Haven Studios. This is one to keep a cautious eye on.
